Stübben Steeltec, Pelham Sweet Copper
This Pelham comes with a double-broken stainless steel mouthpiece, with the centerpiece made of the classic "sweet copper" material. This special copper mixture from Stübben, is said to have a sweet taste for horses and thus stimulate the chewing activity. The increased chewing leads to a higher saliva production, which increases the well-being and the permeability. This interaction enables a fine communication between rider's hand and horse's mouth. Pelhams can be used with two pairs of reins or with only one pair of reins in combination with pelham straps. The use of a chin chain, with a suitable pad, distributes the pressure not only on the neck and the lower jaw, but also on the chin, thus utilizing all pressure points of the horse's head. Since the leverage of Pelhams should not be underestimated, these bits should only be used by experienced and sensitive riders.
