Trust Sweet Iron Baby Pelham Low Port

The Trust Sweet Iron Baby Pelham is handcrafted from high quality materials and has a bar bit with small tongue clearance. A Baby Pelham side piece combines the effect of a snaffle and a curb bit, but can be ridden with either one or two reins and also has only one mouthpiece. This makes it ideal for horses that have too little room for two mouthpieces and for those that need to get used to a double bridle. To prevent too wide a rotation in the horse's mouth, the Baby Pelham should always be used with a chin chain. The mouthpiece has a small recess so that a little more space is created for the tongue and the pressure on the middle of the tongue is reduced. In addition, the bit has a Sweet Iron alloy, which oxidises on contact with moisture and forms sweet-tasting surface rust for horses. This stimulates saliva production and chewing activity in a natural way and significantly increases the acceptance of the bit.

Note: When not in use, a thin, orange-brown layer of rust will develop on the mouthpiece, this can be removed with a damp cloth and does not represent a quality defect!
