Trust Sweet Iron Hanging Cheek Bit, Jointed

The Sweet Iron hanging cheek bit is made by Trust and is a special variation of the olive head bit. In this version, small rings are attached to the top of the olive head rings in order to fasten the cheek piece. The reins are attached to the large rings, which creates a slight leverage effect. In addition, the rings are firmly attached to the mouthpiece so that the bit has a very steady and stable position in the horse's mouth. The mouthpiece is a standard jointed mouthpiece which exerts pressure mainly on the interdental space and the sides of the tongue. To stimulate saliva production and chewing activity, a Sweet Iron alloy is present. This alloy forms sweet tasting surface rust when in contact with horse's cud. The hanging cheek bit is often seen in the upper classes of pony riders and can ease the transition from snaffle to double bridle.

Note: When not in use a thin layer of orange-brown rust will develop on the mouthpiece, this can be removed with a damp cloth and is not a quality defect!
