Trust Sweet Iron Swales Medium Port
This Swals with medium port is made by Trust and looks like a curb bit but is much easier to handle. It has only one mouthpiece, but can still be ridden with two reins. The cheek pieces are attached to an extra ring, so the rein aids only have an effect on the lower jaw. The lower rein creates the effect of the curb and the upper rein enables a trusting contact between the horse's mouth and the rider's hand. The mouthpiece is a bar with a curvature to create more space for the tongue, making it ideal for horses that stick their tongue out. The bit is very well accepted and accepted because it has the Sweet Iron alloy. This alloy forms surface rust on contact with moisture which tastes sweet to most horses, this also stimulates chewing activity. A Swales requires an experienced, sensitive rider's hand as it can develop a strong action.
Note: When not in use, a thin layer of orange-brown rust will develop on the mouthpiece, this can be removed with a damp cloth and is not a quality defect!
