The Baby Weymouth is a bar bit with movable side pieces and short shanks, which is used in combination with a underlay bradoon. The chin chain prevents the bit from rotating too far in the horse's mouth. The Weymouth bit is a lever action bit, the longer the shanks, the greater the leverage. The mouthpiece has a curvature, so the pressure is taken from the middle of the tongue and distributed evenly.
