Trust Sweet Iron Pony Hanging Cheek Bit, Locked

This Sweet Iron hanging cheek bit is made by Trust and is specially adapted to the anatomy of ponies, i.e. the side pieces are smaller and the mouthpiece thinner. This is a special version of the jointed mouthpiece, because it locks when pressure is applied to the reins. This makes it a straight bar, and when the pressure is released, it is again a jointed mouthpiece. This makes it ideal for ponies that go strongly against the hand. The side piece is an olive head ring, which has a small ring on top. The cheek piece is attached to the small ring and the reins are attached to the large ring, so the bit lies very quietly and stably in the mouth, and there is also a slight leverage effect. The special Sweet iron alloy increases the acceptance of the bit and at the same time stimulates saliva production, because surface rust develops on contact with moisture. This rust tastes sweet to most horses.

Note: When not in use, a thin, orange-brown layer of rust will develop on the mouthpiece. This can be removed with a damp cloth and does not represent a quality defect!
